Ready? Set. Go!

Ready or not 2019 is here! May your year overflow with wild adventures and creative explorations! May your hidden skills and talents spring forth as you embrace your Creative Voice. Remember, creativity is not confined to the titles of Art or Artist.

2019 shall be filled with goals, plans and dreams to be accomplished. Opportunities, adventures and the unexpected delights hidden within each day. The arrival of the New Year is an exciting time anticipating the possibility of the unknown. I'm probably one of the few individuals who can say, I do not make or declare a New Year's Resolution, instead I look forward to embracing each new day with as much creativity as possible. Some days there will be paint, others a shovel and tons of dirt, possibly fabric, pens and pencils, baking or developing new Gluten Free recipes and yes, at some point daily I will be at the keyboard writing, working on a new book to be released later this year.

I am beginning 2019 with a large blank canvas on my easel which is waiting patiently in the studio. A new art journal and a set of pens for my Doodles and Sketches. As I tie up a few loose ends remaining from 2018 I am looking forward to 2019 and the grand adventures to come!

Happy New Year! May 2019 be your BEST year yet!

Fall is in the Air

The changing of the seasons always brings a rush of creativity in my studio. No matter the season, once the shift begins seemingly out of no where inspiration comes rushing in like a flood. I was prepared for Fall or so I thought. I had cleaned, scrubbed, tossed items that I no longer needed, a deep Spring Cleaning in preparation for Fall, the studio was ready! Boy was I surprised when my seasonal inspiration hit and it wasn't with paint or canvas. It wasn't with fabric and thread. It wasn't in the kitchen creating new Gluten Free recipes.

There I was gathering fresh Apples in the orchard when it hit! Inspired by the shadows dancing in the leaves, by the Goldenrod waving in the wind. I wasn't expecting to be inspired in the garden this Fall, usually late winter or early spring is when I plot and plan new creative adventures for the garden.

This Fall, I will be creating new flowerbeds, planting bulbs, flowering shrubs and some trees. Placing bird feeders and new birdbaths along the trails so that in winter I will be able to enjoy the flight of color in a cold barren winter garden. Checking my supply list and soon headed out to the Garden Center. I will be the one digging and transplanting, adding bulbs enjoying the lingering days of Fall. Bonfires, football and all things pumpkin. Happy Fall Y'all!

Time is Racing!

February is already here just when I was getting used to January. Are you like me, finding several items leftover from your January to-do list?

February is the shortest month, therefore I have decided a change is needed in the area of time management.  I am setting dedicated time for writing each morning, followed by household chores, [not really, just throwing in a load of laundry, preparing dinner = popping meal into slow cooker and feeding cats] and then for the Creative Adventure of the day...which could be painting, quilting, drawing, baking, gardening, more writing or....Who knows where the Creative Adventure will lead.

And for as long as needed, tackling 1 January left-over project a day until January's to-do list is completed. Time management is the 'theme' for February.

What are your time management tips?
I am using a large desk planner and an egg timer. Tasks are written by date and time for task allocated. Yes, the egg timer works. I've found I work faster and efficiently on tasks knowing the timer may go off before the task at hand is completed.

Christmas Decorating is it a Science or an Art?

When do you begin decorating for Christmas?
I have friends that begin decorating in October and others that don't even consider decorating until December 18th! Personally, I'm not sure how to answer the question~ I've just noticed a fully decorated Christmas Tree that has remained on my mantle displayed for over a year! How have I not seen this tree until today??? Is it okay with you if I pretend that I just put it up for this season?

Are you a traditionalist when decorating, using reds and greens or silver and blues as your palette? Or do you work with the more vibrant colors of pinks, aqua, lime and purples? What about ornaments and other decorations~ Do you use handcrafted ornaments or those you have purchased?

Today I am filled and overflowing with questions it seems.
Below is a set of questions to propel us into the Christmas Season.

1. When do you begin decorating?
2. Do you decorate every room in your home?
3. What color palette[s] do you use when decorating for Christmas?
4. Do you use all of your ornaments every year?
5. Real tree vs artificial tree, which do you prefer?
6. Christmas lights: inside? outside? colors? or all white?
7. Do you collect specific types of Christmas ornaments or decorations?
8. Do you use a Nativity in your Christmas decor?

I'm off to the attic, the closets and under the beds in search of Christmas decorations! Thinking I will go 'simple' this year, that is until the Christmas Bug bites and then....who knows what will happen! Only 24 days until Christmas, I'd better get busy!

I need some ideas for the front porch this year~
How are you decorating your entry?

Giving Thanks!

Happy Thanksgiving! Happy Feast Day! Happy Football!

Thanksgiving brings a rush of memories~ filled with laughter and tears.
Yet, Thanksgiving 2016 my heart is overflowing with the many blessings of the year.

I can't really hang out and chat today, I'm running behind on the creation of the feast. [Yep, I stayed up way to late playing in the studio last night when I should have been cooking!]

Years ago we broke with "Tradition" as in no turkey! Gasp!!
Since the break-up, every year the menu changes. This year is no different, everyone has submitted a request for entree, sides and desserts. And once again, no one has requested turkey, gravy, dressing.... Shrimp is at the top of the entree listings.

What will you be serving later today? Do you have any Thanksgiving Traditions unique to your family?

Happy Thanksgiving!
